TS Mandurah commenced its operations on June 26, 1992, and was officially commissioned on May 1, 1993. Sponsored by the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) is dedicated to fostering leadership and teamwork skills among young individuals through engaging maritime-based learning experiences.
As a pivotal component of the ANC, an ANC Training Ship (TS) like Mandurah plays a crucial role in fulfilling the organization's objectives. Mandurah is committed to nurturing youth according to the ANC Training curriculum, ensuring cadets have ample opportunities for advancement, safety, skill acquisition, and enjoyment.
Mandurah's primary goal is to execute all assigned tasks with safety, professionalism, and punctuality, thereby contributing to the development of a capable and well-prepared cadre of staff and cadets, as desired by the National Commander of the Australian Navy Cadets. It emphasizes a cohesive team approach, where success or failure is collective rather than individual.
Operational during school terms, Mandurah offers maritime activities on weekends and school holidays. These activities encompass a diverse range including Firearms training, International exchange programs, Powerboating, Sailing, Tall ships, and participation in State and National events.
Situated at the rear of Coodanup College on Wanjeep St, Coodanup, TS Mandurah shares facilities with the 504 Army Cadet Unit and 707 SQN Australian Air Force Cadets, within an Australian Defence Force Cadet facility.
