Disney’s live-action Moana has found its new leading lady… Catherine Laga’aia!!
And yes, she is New Zealand/Aussie actor Jay Laga’aia’s daughter.
Catherine has had all her Disney dreams come true and will star opposite Dwayne -The Rock - Johnson who is back as the demigod Maui.
The 17-year-old expressed her excitement in a statement released by Disney studio, saying, “Moana is one of my favourites…” and that the role was especially personal due to her family ties!!
Moana is set to begin filming in July for a 2026 release.
