A GoFundMe Page has been set up to help Courtney and his family.
Sad news with our own WA boy, Courtney Murphy fighting for his life after being diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.
The former Australian Idol contestant and mainstay of the Perth music scene, is currently undergoing aggressive chemo to give him a fighting chance after a tumour was discovered last Tuesday.
To add to the devastating news, the 44-year-old lost his dad just 12 weeks ago to a brain tumour.
His brother Chris and Keiran Murphy have started an online GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $70,000 to help Courtney, Jane and his children get through this tough time.
Here is the statement from Court's brothers...
'Our beautiful brother Courtney Murphy is in for the fight of his life.
It is with heavy hearts that we share Court has been diagnosed with advanced stage bowel cancer. It's very serious.
Many of you will know Courtney for his amazing musical talent and his big voice. We think it's fair to say he's been entertaining West Aussies for the best part of 30 years - either as a wide-eyed kid on Australian Idol, on stage in We Will Rock You, or just gigging with us - his brothers - in Murphy's Lore and The Murphy Brothers.
To add to this devastating news, we lost our beloved Dad just 12 weeks ago to a brain tumour.
As a self-employed musician with a wife and three young children, Courtney will not be able to work for the foreseeable future which leaves his young family fighting much harder than we want them to be.
Anyone who knows Courtney knows that his heart is as a big as
his voice and we've set up this GoFundMe page in the hope that we can ease some of the burden on his young family.
Any funds generated will go directly to Courtney Murphy, his wife Jane and children as they navigate the difficult road ahead.
Chris and Kieran Murphy.'
Our thoughts are with the Murphy family, and especially with Courtney. xx
