The Australia Day Celebrations happen Wednesday 26th January from 5pm to 8.45pm at Churchill Park on the Rockingham Foreshore.

The Australia Day Celebration is a major part of the City of Rockingham's Summer Series of free-entry, smoke-free and alcohol-free events.

The event will be headlined by a fireworks display at 8.30pm. Prior to this These Galahs, Guthrie Trio, Lights Out and other local music talent will perform on stage from 5pm with relaxed, low key performances. The City has received an exemption from the Department of Health to host the stage show, and in line with State Government COVID-19 requirements, dancing will not be permitted.

Free children’s activities and food vans will also be available throughout Churchill Park during the event.

Event details are subject to change in line with current COVID-19 restrictions at the time of the event. For more information and to stay up to date with any changes visit rockingham.wa.gov.au/whatson

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged the community to join in the celebrations at the foreshore.

“The City’s annual Australia Day Celebration is one of the most popular events on the City’s Summer Series calendar, with many residents taking the opportunity to celebrate everything that’s great about Australia each year, concluding with a stunning fireworks display over the water,” Mayor Hamblin said.

“The City gratefully acknowledges Lotterywest for supporting this popular community event.”

In addition to the celebration at the foreshore, the City will also host its largest citizenship ceremony of the year at the Gary Holland Community Centre. In the morning Australian citizenship will be conferred on more than 100 residents, and the City will also announce the winners of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Visitors to the foreshore are reminded that all parking bays on Rockingham Beach Road, between Railway Terrace and Flinders Lane, will be closed from 6am. Rockingham Beach Road, between Railway Terrace and Flinders, will also be closed from 12 noon until 10pm.

If visiting by public transport, attendees can catch the 555 bus from Rockingham Train Station, which is running every 15 minutes for this event. The Village Green will also be available for overflow parking from 4pm until full.
