The Mandurah Readers and Writers Festival is back this week with a group of talented WA authors set to share their stories and love of writing with the community from January 13 -16.

Over the four-day festival, hosted by the City of Mandurah, more than a dozen established and emerging writers and storytellers will come together to present workshops, author talks and panel discussions.

Crime writing, biographies, psychological thrillers and romance will all feature during the popular event, which is being held at Seashells Resort.

The free annual Festival encourages readers and authors to engage in conversation around books, promote the benefits of reading, writing and literature, and encourage creativity within the community.

The Mandurah Readers and Writers Festival will open on Thursday evening, January 13, with a Conversation Panel featuring first-time novelists Mel Hall, Maria Papas and Emma Young.

On Friday, January 14 the program will include a series of conversations and panel discussions throughout the day focusing on Histories, from personal journeys to forgotten crimes, and fiction based on historical events.

On Saturday, January 15 there will be a spotlight on crime stories which will include emerging and established authors in this popular and fascinating genre.

People are encouraged to join the ‘Summer Big Read Book Club’ and enjoy high tea with authors including Sara Foster, Pol Koutsakis and David Whish-Wilson.

Sunday, January 16’s program will include discussions about classic cars, cricket, men’s mental health, family ties that bind, and train journeys across Australia.

For the full program go to www.mandurah.wa.gov.au and for more information or to book a place call City of Mandurah Libraries on 9550 3650.
