A Baldivis man has been fined $10,000 after he pointed a laser light at a police helicopter on New Year's Eve.
The helicopter was patrolling over the Warnbro area around 10.35pm on December 31 after reports a person was pointing a laser at cars from the roof of a home.
"When Police Air Wing located the individual, the aircraft was struck by a laser light multiple times," a WA Police spokesperson said.
"Following communications with officers on the ground, Rockingham Police attended a home a short time later, where the vehicle was also struck by the laser."
Joseph Liam Fletcher-Jones appeared in the Rockingham Magistrates Court last month where he was fined $10,000 over the offence.
"A timely reminder, these dangerous acts will not be tolerated by the WA Police Force and anyone charged with laser light offences risks a maximum three years in prison, or can be fined up to $36,000," WA Police said.
