A couple of local backyard pools have been dubbed two of Australia's best.
As part of the annual Poolz Awards, 165 of Australia’s best pools have been nominated across 24 categories including Best Hamptons-Style Pool, Best Fibreglass Pool, Best Concrete Pool and Best Plunge Pool.
Two of those are in the backyards of homes in Baldivis and Meadow Springs.
The Meadow Springs pool titled 'A Private Sanctuary with the Bermuda' has been nominated in several categories including Best Fibreglass Pool and Australia's Coolest Pool.
Supplied by Sapphire Pools, the triangle shaped, black interior pool is "enveloped by palms and sweet-scented frangipani blossoms" and "offers a respite from the chaos of daily life".
The Baldivis pool has also been nominated in several categories including Best Fibreglass Pool, Best Pool + Slide and Best Pool and Entertainment Area.
The 4.45m x 11m rectangular pool, supplied by Aqua Technics, has been titled "The Ultimate Family Escape With The Torino".
"This pool is the epitome of luxury and family fun, set against a backdrop of natural beauty. Its expansive design is centred around the stunning Torino, measuring at 11m x 4.45m the client added sleek water jets and built-in Aqua Ledge with ledge loungers, perfect for relaxation while watching the kids play," the description read.
Entries have been submitted from right across Australia, with Queensland and New South Wales home to the most nominees followed by Western Australia.
According to Roy Morgan, 17 per cent of Perth residents have a swimming pool or spa at home.
Founder and CEO of Poolz Tony Loxton said the awards were a chance to show off Australia’s world-leading pool design.
“From Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula to Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Australian pools offer the best seat in the house and some of the best views on offer right around Australia," he said.
"A pool has become the sought-after cherry-on-top for any homeowner wanting to take their house to the next level and create a sublime oasis on par with a luxury resort. Since the pandemic, pools have become a national obsession – one in seven of us has a pool – and these awards highlight the best of the best."
A panel of industry experts will judge the 20 main pool categories based on form, function and first impressions.
The winners will be announced on December 1.
There are also three people's choice awards for Best Fibreglass Pool, Best Concrete Pool and Best Plunge Pool.
Voting is open until November 22.
