Authorities say a bushfire which posed a possible threat to lives and homes in Byford is suspicious.
The fire started near the intersection of Michael Street and Dougall Street around 1.40am on Friday.
It reached a watch and act alert with nearby residents urged to leave their homes or get ready to actively defend them.
An advice is now in place for the area, with the blaze contained and under control.
It has burnt through 5.5 hectares of bushland.
