Claims now open for WA student payments

Financial support is now on offer to all Western Australian families with school-aged children.

The cost of living relief payments are $250 for each secondary student and $150 for primary and kindergarten students.

The payments will assist families with the cost of school essentials - like books and IT equipment, sport and music costs, stationery, school shoes, uniforms, excursions and camps, plus other extra costs, including food and groceries.

Families can claim the WA Student Assistance Payment through the ServiceWA app with applications to close on June 28.

Eligibility will be validated through the student's unique WA student number (WASN), which can be found on a student's SmartRider, school report or NAPLAN results.

"As a Dad from Kwinana, I know how those extra costs during the school years can really add up, and want to make sure that every single family benefits from this program," Premier Roger Cook said.

"Providing support to Western Australians facing higher cost of living pressures is my number one priority.

"With claims now open, I encourage families to apply to access extra help with their school costs.

"If you claim through the ServiceWA app, the payment will be in your bank account in around a week."
