Police have revealed that a destructive bushfire in Collie last week may have been deliberately lit.
The fire started on Wednesday January 11 in bushland around Collie-Williams Road.
It prompted an emergency level warning on Thursday evening and a number of residents were forced to flea to an evacuation centre.
Strong winds caused the fire to intensify rapidly and the blaze quickly burnt through 300 hectares of land.
The affected land included a blue gum plantation, which is believed to have received $1 million in damage.
Bunbury Police have revealed they are treating the cause of the fire as suspicious and have issued a public plea for information.
Anyone with information relating to this fire, or who has mobile phone or dash-cam vision of the area of the fire, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
