Police hold concerns for the welfare of a man and woman, thought to be travelling towards Port Hedland.

WA Police need the public's help after sparking concerns for the welfare of a man and woman who are last known to have been travelling across the north-eastern Pilbara.

The pair both in their early 20s, have been travelling in a silver 80s series Toyota Landcruiser, towing a green box trailer. Both the car and trailer were packed with personal property.

The couple were reported by other travellers to be driving the Canning Stock Route, or any other route, to get to Port Hedland from the vicinity of the Kunawarritji Community in the Gibson Desert North. It's also understood the couple were experiencing vehicle troubles and that they may have been travelling only at night or in the cool of the day.

They are believed to have made telephone contact with a vehicle repairer confirming required parts were available in Port Hedland on September 8, but have yet to appear or make further contact.

Anybody able to provide information that may help confirm the welfare, whereabouts and identities of the couple are asked to call 131 444, or Karratha Police Station on 9143 7200, and quote reference number IR 120918 1930 9484.
