A young body boarder who was attacked by a shark off Dawesville has spoken out for the first time since the ordeal.
Noah Symmans was bitten on the leg at Pyramids Beach on Sunday morning.
The 20-year-old said he felt something grab his foot and immediately feared the worst.
“I guess my instant thoughts were ‘this is me, I’m gone’,” he told Seven News.
“I went into attack mode, with my other foot I stomped it, on the head I think, and it released me. Then I just wanted to get to the rocks as soon as I could.”
My Symmans suffered four deep gashes to his ankle and foot and was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent surgery.
"I'm so lucky, I'm so thankful," he said.

Pyramids Beach is set to reopen on Tuesday.
Sunday's incident was the third attack at Pyramids Beach in four years, prompting calls for more to be done to protect beachgoers.
