Driver critical after car ploughs into Collie River

A 63-year-old man is fighting for life after his car ploughed into the Collie River on Boxing Day.

The man was driving a grey Hyundai Tucson station sedan in the northbound lane on Schultz Bridge around 11.25am on December 26 when the vehicle crashed into the guard rail and continued into Collie River South.  

The driver and single occupant of the vehicle was recovered from the water by members of the public.  

He was conveyed via ambulance to Collie Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. 

Inquiries remain ongoing and investigators urge anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the vehicle in the area at the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online via www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
