Dwellingup has once again cemented its position as a must-visit destination in Western Australia following its third consecutive year as a GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards finalist.
Having won the prestigious title of Top Small Tourism Town in 2021, it’s now vying for the title of Top Tiny Town alongside Coolgardie, Gascoyne Junction, New Norcia, Northcliffe and Pemberton.
Shire of Murray Chief Executive Officer Dean Unsworth said it was an honour for the popular trails town to be recognised in these prestigious awards.
"It's exciting and encouraging that Dwellingup has been acknowledged - yet again - as a GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards Finalist, meaning that we’re among the best in the state for the third year running," Mr Unsworth said.
The Top Tourism Town Awards recognise some of the country's best destinations while also promoting the local tourism industry.
Over the past five years, Dwellingup has relentlessly focused, adapted and developed its tourism offerings positioning itself as one of Australia’s top trail town destinations.
At the heart of Dwellingup’s success is the award-winning and state-of-the-art Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre (DTVC).
The DTVC has been responsible for more than tripling visitor numbers to the town since 2014 with 2023 on target to be another record year.
"Dwellingup is a place that perfectly characterises the adventure, relaxation, heritage and charm of country life. You are a world away from the stresses of daily life, even though it’s just over an hour's drive from Perth," Mr Unsworth said.
Dwellingup is well known for being an adventure playground with flowing rivers, invigorating swimming holes, some of the country’s best walk and bike trails, and cultural and heritage experiences.
There are also galleries, creative artisans and farmgate producers, and visitors can also enjoy boutique ciders, tasty local produce and delicious bites at cosy cafes, all flavoured with Dwellingup’s authentic country charm.
