Bankwest at the Mandurah Forum will close its doors today, September 27.

It is the final branch out of 28 in the greater Perth area that have closed down since March, in a move which will see Bankwest become a digital-only bank.

According to Bankwest's Branch Closure Impact Assessment, the Mandurah branch has seen a 30.6 per cent reduction in over the counter transactions in the year to February 2024, with just 64 people on average visiting the branch each day.

"With more of Bankwest customer transactions now occurring in digital channels, like the Bankwest App and Bankwest Online Banking, we’ve
seen a continual decline in branch transactions," the Branch Closure Impact Assessment read.

"After careful consideration, we will permanently close the Mandurah Forum Branch and its ATM on Friday 27 September 2024, at 12pm."

Bankwest customers will still be able to check their account balance, get cash out and make credit card repayments at Australia Post stores, including the Mandurah Post Office.

The remaining 15 Bankwest branches, which are all in regional WA, will be converted to Commonwealth Banks by mid-December.

Commonwealth Bank purchased Bankwest in 2008.
