The family of a young father who died in a motorbike crash during a police pursuit in Calista are demanding answers.

Police attempted to stop Rory Kenny who was allegedly riding a motorbike along Wellard Road around 9.15pm on Wednesday.

But the 20-year-old did not stop and instead turned off onto Westbrook Street before turning back onto Wellard Road.

"Officers lost sight of the motorcycle, however they located it crashed a short time later on Wellard Road," a WA Police spokesperson said.

"Officers provided emergency first aid to the male rider until St John WA arrived at the scene."

Despite the efforts of first responders, Rory died at the scene.

"Brilliant dad, best brother in the f***ing world...he was such a good kid," his sister Cara Adamson told 10 News.

Rory's sister-in-law Rebecca Lucas said the young father did not deserve to die.

"Rory should've stopped but at the same time so should have the police," she told 10 News.

"If Rory is going to be held accountable so should the police because they've now taken this young man's life away from his son and away from his family."

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Internal Affairs Unit is also investigating.
