Former Docker Rhys Palmer remains in an induced coma following a motorbike crash in Perth's south.

Police say the 30-year-old and his 25-year-old female passenger were riding along Canning Highway in Bicton on Saturday night when a black Mitsubishi Lancer turned in front of them causing their motorcycle to crash into the side of the car.

Palmer suffered critical injuries, while his passenger suffered an injury to her hand.

He underwent surgery to remove his spleen before being placed in a medically induced coma.

The 45-year-old driver of the Lancer suffered minor injuries.

Palmer's father Colin told Seven News, his son was on his way back from the beach when the crash happened.

“I spoke to him half hour prior to the accident,” he said.

“He was just down there sort of getting away from everything, enjoying the sunset.”

Palmer is expected to undergo more surgery today.
