Locals will be able to swim for free on Sundays at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) to celebrate the long awaited reopening of the pools.
Every Sunday from this weekend (August 11) through to Sunday, October 6, the community can enjoy free access to the three pool facilities throughout the day.
Works to replace the roof above the pool took three years to complete after it was damaged by a storm back in May 2021.
It has been a mammoth process to get the job done with the City struggling to find a contractor to carry out the works.
Once that pool reopened in May, works began on upgrading the indoor pool areas, which included new acoustic paneling to reduce noise, resurfacing of the pool decks and refreshed equipment in the pirate playground.
Mayor Rhys Williams said it was great to have all pool facilities open again and encouraged the community to join the Splash Sundays and activities.
“This is a way for us to sincerely thank the community for its patience as we’ve navigated the complex rebuild of the pool roof and other upgrade works that have been completed in the pool areas,” Mayor Williams said.
“We’re thrilled to have all our pools fully operational again, and it’s been wonderful seeing everyone back in the water. Come down to the MARC from this Sunday to have a free swim with your family and friends and enjoy getting back into these much-loved community spaces.”
Please note the Wellness Centre including spa and sauna is not included in the Splash Sundays offer.
