Two 14-year-old girls have been charged after allegedly taking a toddler from the Kwinana Adventure Park and dressing her in clothes they purchased from a nearby shopping centre.

Police allege one of the teenagers picked up the 18-month-old girl who was sitting on a footpath near the water park area around 11.50am on Sunday.

The pair then approached the caretakers of the park with the toddler and were told to wait under the patio area while they searched for the parents.

It's alleged the girls did not wait and instead left the park with the child, walking to the Kwinana Marketplace shopping centre where they purchased a new outfit for the toddler.

After receiving information from members of the public, police found the toddler safe and well with one of the girls on Tunnicliffe Street in Parmelia.

A short time later police took the second 14-year-old girl into custody at the shopping centre.

Both girls, from Alexander Heights and Orelia, have been charged with Person Forcibly/Fraudulently Takes/Entices Away/Detains a Child under 16.

They are due to appear before the Perth Children’s Court today.
