Halls Head College will be hosting a free parenting evening for local families on Tuesday, September 7.
Claire Eaton, Perth author, speaker and former educator will share practical resilience, optimism, and confidence tools so parents feel better equipped to support their tween and teen’s emotional, social, and mental wellbeing.
Ms Eaton and the local parenting connection team invite local parents and caregivers to listen to their presentation from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
“Young people are being forced to cope with and respond to situations at home, school, with friends and online, which are more prevalent in our fast paced and rapidly-changing world,” Ms Eaton said.
“They’re seeing rapid-fire updates on social media and they’re feeling the ripple effect on their family, friendships, home life and experiences at school. They need a lot of support and practical tools to get their heads around it all.”

Ms Eaton will shine a light on parent and teen-friendly social, emotional and mental wellbeing techniques parents and caregivers need to raise and support resilient young people.
“In periods of uncertainty, teenagers can quickly default to intense fear-based thoughts, which if left unchecked can cause them to spiral downwards feeling helpless and vulnerable,” Ms Eaton said.
“We can help teenagers avoid excess worry and anxiety by teaching them how to take charge of their own mindset. It’s not a quick fix but it is a practical and big step in the right direction.”
The presentation is supported by Parenting Connection WA, a local service that supports parents and families to enhance the wellbeing and development of their children.
Those who attend the presentation will be offered a light supper, tea and coffee and door prizes including Ms Eaton's books, Bunnings vouchers and Aldi vouchers.
