A Halls Head mother has been granted bail just two days after she was jailed over a horror crash that claimed the lives of her twin daughters.
In the Northam Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Rachel van Oyen was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to causing the crash that claimed the lives of her seven-year-old daughters, Macey and Riley in February 2024.
Ms van Oyen was ordered to spend two months in jail with the other six months suspended.
The West Australian reports, the 32-year-old's lawyers have lodged an appeal against the sentence and on Friday applied for bail ahead of her next court appearance.
Ms van Oyen's bail was granted under the conditions that she does not leave the state and resides at her Halls Head home.
The 32-year-old was driving her Toyota Camry on the Great Eastern Highway in Carrabin when she veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Her daughters were thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
