Harvey Police investigate livestock advertising scam

PIC: File

Harvey Police are investigating an incident involving the fraudulent advertisement of livestock that occurred in the South West District last month.

The victim involved was led to believe they were purchasing a significant amount of livestock from an individual via Facebook.

After transferring around $16,500, the victim was advised to pick up the livestock from a farm in Keysbrook.

When the victim went to collect the livestock, the property owner was not aware of the transaction.

Harvey Police believe the now-deleted Facebook account was also posting livestock advertisements to the Great Southern and Wheatbelt livestock sale pages.

Police wish to raise awareness of this matter and urge locals to exercise due diligence when purchasing goods or services online.
