New City of Rockingham councillors officially sworn in

Successful candidates have officially been sworn in as City of Rockingham councillors following the Local Government Elections.

There were six councillor positions available across the City's three wards.

In Baldivis Ward, Kelly Middlecoat and Mike Crichton were successful. 

Lorna Buchan was re-elected in the Comet Bay Ward, while Mark Jones and Craig Buchanan were again elected to represent Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward along with newcomer Peter Hudson.   

All successful candidates were elected for a four year term.

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin congratulated the Councillors on their success. 

“Representing the City of Rockingham as an elected member and making decisions on behalf of the community is a very important responsibility, and I must congratulate all of our new Councillors on their success at the 2023 Local Government Elections,” Mayor Hamblin said. 

“It is an exciting time for our City as we continue to grow, and I look forward to working closely with our new Council in the years ahead.” 

A Special Council Meeting will be held on October 31 to elect a Deputy Mayor and also fill vacancies across the City’s wide range of committees.  

The new Council now comprises of: 

Mayor – Deb Hamblin
Baldivis Ward – Cr Mike Crichton, Cr Kelly Middlecoat and Cr Brett Wormall. 
Comet Bay Ward – Cr Lorna Buchan and Cr Robert Schmidt.   
Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward – Cr Craig Buchanan, Cr Caroline Hume, Cr Dawn Jecks, Cr Mark Jones, Cr Leigh Liley and Peter Hudson.
