The new Lakelands Station is set to open on Sunday, June 11.

The opening will be marked by a community celebration consisting of face painting, live music, giveaways, and a sausage sizzle.

The new Lakelands Station has been a long time coming for local residents, who will now be able to enjoy a 50 minute journey to the Perth CBD.

It will also take the pressure off the nearby Mandurah and Warnbro stations.

The new station will include an entry building, a pedestrian overpass, two platforms, a bus interchange, cycling facilities, and a 400-bay car park.

It has also been future-proofed with space to add more lifts, escalators, and fare gates as needed.

Mandurah MLA David Templeman believes the new station will support thousands of locals.

“We have thousands of residents living in the north Mandurah suburbs of Lakelands and Madora Bay who currently have to travel to either Mandurah or Warnbro to get on a train - but not anymore," Mr Templeman said.

“In just two months’ time - Lakelands residents will have their very own station, providing them with unprecedented access to the train network.

The opening of the new station will cause slight changes to the current bus network, so local residents are encouraged to check the updated schedules on the Transperth website.
