John Coman, Pastor at Pinjarra Alliance Church, had a successful liver transplant nine years ago with 2023 being the second time has has represented Australia in the international competition.

The World Transplant Games is a week of sport and celebration for all who have received a life-saving transplant, and honours those families who have been organ donors.

Pastor Coman took out the gold in the 400m and 200m freestyle swim and bronze in the 100m and 50m freestyle swim.

He also achieved personal bests in all three triathlon legs (swim, ride, run).

Pastor Coman said while he cherishes trophies and achievements, being alive and well to see another grandson born surpasses those accolades.

He received lots of community support with financial donations including the Shire of Murray through the Community Sponsorship Fund, Pinjarra Bakery, Pinjarra Lions Club, Rotary Club of Pinjarra, Robyn Clarke MLA and people in the street who recognised him and offered cash donations on the spot.
