A $13 million two-storey tavern and microbrewery in Port Kennedy has been given the green light.
The brewpub, to be called Long Point Brewing Co, will feature a craft brewery, restaurant and function space which will cater for up to 500 guests.
The development application was recently approved by the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel with construction set to begin later this year.
The Kennedy Bay development is a joint venture between Shane Wormall of Wormall Group and West Australian Beach & Golf Resort (WABGR).
Mr Wormall, who is a Port Kennedy resident himself, said he had always dreamed of opening a brewery close to home.
"As one of the last north-facing coastal opportunities in Western Australia, Kennedy Bay is of world-class nature and should be celebrated as such,” he said.
“Long Point Brewing Co will be a casual, family-friendly venue that welcomes you with thongs and sandy feet.
“Our mission is to provide an incredible guest experience, plenty of locally crafted quality beers, and a flame-grilled inspired menu."
WABGR director Lou D'Alessandro said the microbrewery will be a substantial addition to both the Kennedy Bay community and town centre amenity.
"This development reiterates our dedication to establishing valued amenities that elevate the Kennedy Bay region. The brewery will not only provide a boost to the local economy, but it will also serve as a cultural hub and destination driver, attracting tourists and providing a unique space for community gatherings," he said.
The $13 million development will be constructed on north-facing beachfront land along Sea Beach Way.
The project is expected to support 100 jobs during construction and provide 35 full-time opportunities upon completion.
