The community is invited to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements during National  Reconciliation Week, with local activities for all to enjoy from May 27 to June 3.

2023 National Reconciliation Week, with the theme ‘Be a Voice for Generations’, is a time for all Australians to explore how to contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Mayor Rhys Williams said the City of Mandurah was working in a number of ways to make Mandurah – our Mandjoogoordap – a more inclusive and connected community for everyone.

“It’s about building meaningful relationships, and continuing to strengthen ties with Mandurah’s Aboriginal community,” Mayor Williams said.

Alongside Mandurah’s Aboriginal community, the City of Mandurah has developed and implemented a number of Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP), with the first Plan being introduced in 2012.

These plans have outlined positive steps towards reconciliation that are achieved together with the local Aboriginal community.

“I encourage everyone to get involved in local events during National Reconciliation Week to learn more about shared histories and culture, and celebrate our achievements," Mayor Williams said.
