The State Government has committed $2.5 million to help construct turf playing fields and a sporting pavilion with change rooms at the Baldivis District Sporting Club.
Premier Mark McGowan and Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby visited the construction site at the club today, which will be primarily used by AFL and cricket clubs.
The City of Rockingham received a grant of $1.5 million for the development of eight hectares of turf playing fields and a further $1 million for the development of a district pavilion and oval floodlighting at the site, through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).
The City also received $10 million through the WA Recovery Plan towards the Baldivis Indoor Recreation Centre, an $18.8 million project featuring four indoor multi-purpose courts, change rooms, meeting rooms and a café.
Additional funding for the new $47.6 million Baldivis District Sporting Complex has been provided by the City of Rockingham ($35 million) and Cricket Australia ($100,000).
"This project will benefit the Baldivis and surrounding local communities significantly providing sporting infrastructure and great playing fields for locals and visitors to enjoy," Premier Mark McGowan said.
The playing fields and pavilion project is expected to be completed by early 2022 with the Baldivis Indoor Recreation Centre expected to be completed late 2022.
