A 15-year-old boy has spoken of a terrifying shark encounter while surfing off Falcon.
Bryce Hickman was with in the water at Cosies Surf Break when a two-metre shark nudged his surfboard around 7am on Thursday.
"I was waiting for another wave and something just came and nudged my surfboard and I was too far out to get the reef," Bryce told 9News.
"I looked again and it was just this big shark and then it darted off."
Bryce's twin brother was also surfing at the time and heard him shout "shark" before both paddled to shore.
Authorities closed beaches within 1km of Falcon Bay for a couple of hours to reduce the risk of a shark attack.
The encounter didn't deter the brothers though with the pair returning to the water after the beach reopened.
"I only got one wave so just waited a few hours and came back then, and got the last couple of sets for the day."
If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.
