Three major projects have been completed in Pinjarra with the help of funding through Alcoa.
The projects include new Murray River Foreshore lighting, an upgraded CCTV network and new lighting at Sir Ross McLarty Oval.
“The new foreshore lighting helps showcase the Murray River Foreshore area. Activating the Pinjarra Suspension Bridge and surrounding riverbanks and foreshore trees. It has already been used for multiple fantastic events, bringing hundreds of people to enjoy the area," Acting Shire President Douglas McLarty said.
“The new $200k LED lighting at the Sir Ross McLarty Sports Precinct has created better sporting experiences with lighting that meets sporting standards, is energy efficient and needs less maintenance supporting local sporting teams.
“The CCTV network expansion allowed cameras to include automatic numberplate recognition equipment, which relays information directly to local police. This has enhanced the already strong partnership between the local police and the Shire to support the safety and wellbeing of
the community.
“We are proud to be delivering projects that support our community and continue to support our plan for the future."
Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery Manager Mark Hodgson said the projects were supported through a current five-year partnership with the Shire of Murray, during which more than $1.6 million will be invested into a range of community infrastructure projects.
“We have been proud partners with the Shire for almost two decades, contributing to significant infrastructure developments that improve quality of life, spur economic growth, and strengthen community ties,” Mark Hodgson said.
The Murray River Foreshore Lighting project was also funded by the Shire of Murray and the Community Bank Pinjarra.
The Sir Ross McLarty Sports Precinct lighting was also funded by the Shire of Murray and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
