A mother has been left horrified after her two-year-old daughter found a used condom in the main dining area of Warnbro McDonald's and put it in her mouth.
10 daily reports, the woman, her husband and their daughter went to the fast food store on Warnbro Sound Avenue around 6pm on Friday night.
"I went back up to the counter to order something and my daughter was with my husband, I don't know how it happened but when my husband next looks at her, she's sucking on a black condom," the mother told 10 daily.
The woman said her husband quickly grabbed the condom off the toddler and went up to the counter to show staff.
"I ran into the bathrooms, washed her mouth and hands and came out and gave her a drink. We were terrified," she told 10 daily.
"I am really angry and sickened ... I haven’t slept. I have been feeling overwhelmingly guilty for taking her there in the first place."
The parents contacted their local doctor who told them to go back to McDonald's, get the condom, then head to the hospital for testing.
"When I got there, they refused to give us back the condom. I am disgusted how they treated me and my family. We just wanted to test it to see if our daughter is going to be okay," she told 10 daily.
"What if there is an STD there and my daughter is going to get it? We have to wait two months to do a blood test on her."
McDonald's head office told 10 daily ""the hospital was provided with the condom [from staff] for testing".
“We are very sorry that the incident occurred, and take situations like this seriously. We are conducting an investigation into how this happened," the spokesperson said.
"Cleanliness and safety are our top priorities and we ensure the Shift Manager on duty conducts what we refer to as a travel path every 30 minutes."
