Two men have had to be rescued off the coast of Point Peron yesterday after a wave hit their boat causing it to sink.
Around 4:55pm a Water Police vessel was deployed as part of another marine search operating off the coast of Point Peron when officers spotted a flare activated in the distance.
The Water Police vessel headed in the direction of the flare sighting when a second flare was activated.
Two men were subsequently located in the water, one man in his 50 the other in his 20s.
Both were uninjured and were quickly pulled from the water.
It's believed the men had been on a 4.2m aluminium boat which was swamped by a wave causing it to sink within about 30 seconds.
The men were able to grab their life jackets and flares as the boat sank, however they were not able to activate an EPIRB as it was attached to the boat when it sank.
