A Mandurah footy star is now a GWS Giant after being selected with pick three at the 2023 AFLW Draft on Monday night.
Kaitlyn Srhoj had two standout seasons playing for Peel Thunder in the WAFLW as well as dominating in the Under-18 National Championships.
The 18-year-old was also named in the 2023 Under-18 All-Australian team and was a part of the AFLW National Academy.
Srhoj, a talented junior basketballer for the Mandurah Magic, only started playing AFL four years ago.
She started playing for the Mandurah Mustangs when she was 14 before transitioning to Halls Head and then went onto play state football for WA and league football for Peel Thunder.
"Now I'm a Giant...it's crazy," she told the GWS website.
Srhoj said she is excited to move to Sydney.
"I'm obviously going to be quite emotional, it's not an easy move," she said.
"I think for me, I have such a clear, direct goal and that is to play good footy wherever that is and I'm at the Giants so that's obviously Sydney now and I am really looking forward to getting over."
Giants AFLW List Manager Tyson Bourke said they are thrilled to welcome Kaitlyn to the team.
“Kaitlyn has been on everyone’s radar for the past two years after representing WA as a bottom-ager before winning best on ground in the Under-17s Futures game," he said.
“We love her ability to play on the outside as a tall marking winger with class but also to play on the inside with her ability to extract the ball and use her hands to bring others into the game.
“More importantly Kaitlyn is an excellent character who will be an excellent addition to our midfield group and we’re excited to see her in orange and charcoal.”
