Country rock singer-songwriter JD Souther has passed away. He was 78.
He famously wrote songs for The Eagles in their early days, cowriting ‘Best of My Love’, 'James Dean', 'New Kid in Town', and 'Heartache Tonight'… but refused to join the band saying they ‘didn’t need him'.
He also wrote and sang duets with his then-girlfriend Linda Ronstadt, like 'Faithless Love', and Bonnie Raitt’s 'Run Like a Thief'.
He even turned his talents to acting, appearing in TV series such as 'Thirty Something' and 'Nashville'.
Straight off his court conviction for DWI – Justin Timberlake is back on tour and stopped by Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show to talk about resuming his tour – and that he and Jimmy have recorded a Christmas song called 'You’ll Be There'.
